Decentralized STPs versus Septic Tanks

It’s easy to choose between a Septic Tank and a decentralized Sewage Treatment Plant. Times have changed; technology has eased the usages and benefits.  A sewage treatment plant provides treatment of the waste, whereas a septic tank simply separates it – this means that the waste water that leaves a sewage treatment plant is cleaner than what leaves a septic tank.

How decentralized STP benefited Nagpur

Nagpur has a population of around 27 lakh people and uses 700 million litres of freshwater each day. Around 550 MLD of this water is transformed into sewage, highlighting that a large amount of water is wasted. Currently, Nagpur produces around 500 to 525 million litres of wastewater per day, of which 340 million litres are treated.
